Hussain Sagar Lake

The three kilometers stretch of road over the artificial Hussain Sagar Lake, popularly known as the Tank Bund Road, serves as a link between Hyderabad and Secundrabad. The bund was built in 1562 over the Balkapur River, tributary of the Musi, during the reign of Ibrahim Qutub Shah. The lake is named after its builder, Hazart Hussain Shah Wali. Tank Bund has seen several changes since its construction. The reservoir, once a water source for the Secundrabad Cantonment is now mainly a recreational facility and a picturesque picnic spot. The boating club and sailing club offer facilities for water sports.

Black marble statues of historical personalities of the state line the eastern side of the road. On either end of the road are imposing White marble gateway, beautifully sculpted in the Vijayanagara or Kakatiya styles of architecture.

A recent addition is a huge monolithic statue of the Buddha on a rock called the Rock of Gibraltar in the center of the lake.
